Welcome to ETC625 Fall 2013

Dear ETC625 students,

I hope that you are finding your way around this course, ETC 625: Designing Instruction.  As you are probably aware, the 7 week, short format courses move quickly.  Please plan your time accordingly, work ahead, and plan to submit assignments on or before the due dates posted on the Assignment Schedule.  If you haven't reviewed the Welcome message, Syllabus, and Assignment Schedule in the Getting Started! Module, please do so immediately.  Next, there are a few assignments due as part of Module 1.  We have a short first week, so please be aware these assignments are due on Monday, April 1st before midnight.  Module 1 does contain several reading assignments as well as a research assignment, so don't delay in getting started. The main emphasis of this course is the instructional design process.  Over the years, a number of instructional design or ID models have been developed and one of your first assignments is to read about several of these models (i.e., skim the articles provided on the assignment instruction page) and then select one model to describe and discuss addressing the questions posted on the assignment instruction page in Module 1. Additionally, your Self Portrait and Introduction should be posted to the designated discussion board.  Thanks to those of you who have already posted your introduction!

Reviewing the course syllabus and materials does not require submitting any materials or confirmation that this step has been completed.  However, you are responsible for knowing the course policies and other information contained in the syllabus.

I did make a number of changes to the course based on feedback from students when I taught the class in the fall, my observations based on the first implementation of this course in a 7 week term, and due to the new edition of the textbook being published. Allow I have reviewed the new instructions and information, it is likely I have overlooked some items that are inconsistent or might be unclear.  Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or comments.  I have received a couple emails already and have made a few changes today --- thanks to those of you who contacted me!

If you have any questions, please email me via the BBLearn Course email page or e-mail me at Chih.Tu@nau.edu.

I look forward to working with!
